Prospective PhD Student Fall 2026 / Spring 2027

I am a researcher working at the intersection of vision–language models, multimodal learning, and AI for healthcare. I recently completed my B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering (Major in Artificial Intelligence, Minor in Mathematics) at North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh, with a CGPA of 3.57/4.00 (89%).

I am currently a Research Assistant at the Machine Intelligence Lab, North South University, where I lead CLIPByte — a tokenizer-free vision–language model for multilingual open-vocabulary image captioning across six typologically diverse languages. Previously, I worked under Dr. Mohammad Abu Yousuf on multi-teacher knowledge distillation for brain-tumor classification (Knowledge-Based Systems, Q1, IF 7.6) and the Bangladesh 2024 Mass Uprising sentiment study (ICCIT 2025).

I have authored or co-authored 2 Q1 journal articles, 2 peer-reviewed conference papers (incl. IEEE BigData 2025), and have 2 manuscripts under review and 3 in preparation targeting BMVC 2026 and KDD 2026. I also serve as a Teaching Assistant for advanced calculus, engineering mathematics, PDEs, and numerical methods at NSU.

I am actively seeking PhD opportunities in vision–language models, multimodal learning, AI for healthcare and neuroimaging, and efficient deep learning (knowledge distillation, model compression). I am happy to chat about collaborations — please feel free to reach out.
